- Back to Basics: Introduction to Instant Payments
- We’ll clarify the distinction between faster and instant payments and introduce the two instant payments and their operators—FedNow, operated by the Federal Reserve Bank, and RTP, operated by The Clearing House. Attendees will gain insight into the transaction flow of an instant payment, the inherent fraud risks, and strategies for mitigating those risks. The session concludes with valuable resources to support further learning. Join us to build a strong foundation in instant payments.
- Back to Basics: Introduction to Card and Wire
- We’ll break down the different types of cards, including credit, debit, ATM, and prepaid or stored value cards, as well as the key participants in the card network and how transactions flow. Additionally, we’ll introduce card network rules, such as Visa and Mastercard rules. Finally, we will explain wire transfers, including the participants involved and the transaction flow. Join us to strengthen your knowledge of these essential payment methods.
- We'll cover what the ACH Network is, the key participants involved—including optional participants known as Third-Party Service Providers—and commonly used ACH industry terms. Attendees will also gain insight into Standard Entry Class (SEC) Codes, including PPD, WEB, CCD, CTX, ARC, BOC, and POP. Additionally, we’ll review the stop payment process and the Written Statement of Unauthorized Debit (WSUD). Join us to strengthen your ACH knowledge and build confidence in navigating ACH transactions.
- We’ll break down the key components of personal and business checks, including the fractional routing number, and discuss important considerations for frontline staff who handle checks daily. Topics include how to manage checks with contradictory amounts, post-dated checks, and stale-dated checks. Additionally, we’ll cover indorsement requirements and special considerations for processing on-us and U.S. Treasury checks. Strengthen your understanding of checks and gain practical insights for daily operations.
