Description: Unfortunately, disputes are bound to happen in the ACH Network, so it is important that your financial institution understands its error resolution obligations. This bundle will not only describe Regulation E, which outlines the rights and responsibilities of consumers with regard to error resolution, but it also discusses how financial institutions can recover funds it may be obligated to recredit to consumers when there is an ACH dispute.
This bundle includes the following webinars:
- Liability and Reg E: Understanding Your Obligations (Two-Part Series) – 60 min each
- If you are wondering why the 60-calendar day extended return time frame discussed in the Nacha Operating Rules does not align with the 60 days described in Regulation E that a consumer has to make a timely report of error, this session is for you. We will examine what a financial institution's obligations are if a consumer reports unauthorized ACH debits that are beyond the 60-calendar day return time frame – and how to attempt to recover the funds so you don’t have to take a loss. This two-part webinar series will help you bridge the gap between the Nacha Operating Rules and Reg E, ensuring you are equipped to handle disputes effectively.
- Continuing Education Credits: 1.2 AAP/APRP credits each
- Rule Breakers: How Nacha's System of Fines and Arbitration Resolve Issues – 90 min
- Of course, we know you would never break the rules… but what happens when you are party to an ACH transaction where another financial institution does not appear to be complying with the Nacha Operating Rules? This may come in the form of an Originator and ODFI not responding appropriately to a Notification of Change by making the requested changes, or perhaps a financial institution is not providing requested documentation – like an RDFI providing a Written Statement of Unauthorized Debit or an ODFI providing proof of authorization for an ACH Entry. And what about when the breach of warranty process goes nowhere because the respondent is not cooperating? During this session, we will explore Nacha’s System of Fines and Arbitration processes and discuss how they can be used to help resolve issues of non-compliance and disputes between financial institutions.
- Continuing Education Credits: 1.8 AAP/APRP credits
- Frontline: WSUD vs. Stop Payment for ACH Entries – 90 min
- Two of the most common ACH Audit findings include errors made by financial institutions when handling stop payment requests and disputes (including how the Written Statement of Unauthorized Debit is handled). Let our team help your frontline staff understand the differences between these two processes and what documentation is required. Also, learn about document retention requirements RDFIs have when processing Extended Returns. This session also includes information on various return reason codes used when handling ACH disputes, so your operations staff can be confident they are using the most appropriate return reason code.
