Length: 90 minutes

Description:  Understanding the distinctions between stop payment requests versus handling unauthorized Entries with a Written Statement of Unauthorized Debit (“WSUD”) can often be a point of confusion, but it’s important for aspiring AAPs to understand the nuances and obligations of each type of request. Stop payment orders are generally proactive requests to stop payment of one or more Entries to the Receiver’s account. WSUDs are often used as a reactive measure in response to Receivers making assertions regarding the authorization of one or more Entries, such as unauthorized Entries, authorization being revoked, or the Entry not meeting the terms of the authorization. During this session, we’ll break down stop payments vs unauthorized Entries and clearly explain what the Nacha Operating Rules require for each type of process.
