According to data provided by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, over 13 million commercial checks were processed each day in 2022. Despite downward trends in check processing volume, financial institutions continue to be challenged with the operational nuances involved in handling check returns, adjustments (including those processed through the Federal Reserve Bank or correspondents), as well as claims where one financial institution must deal directly with another financial institution for resolution. Join us as we discuss the differences between check returns and adjustments – including when you can return and when you can adjust – as well as how certain fraud-related claims are handled.
